Obit: Delaware Gazette June 21, 1889 1. Joseph Fleming one of the old and well known residents of Delaware Co., died at his home in Old Eden, Brown Twp. The deceased was an old soldier and a member of George. B. Torrence Post GAR. Te funeral from the Presbyterian Church in Eden after which the remains were taken to Radnor Twp. for interment.
2. June 25, 1889 The funeral of Joseph D. Fleming, late Co. f, 96th O.V.I. was held in the Presbyterian Church in Eden on Thursday June 20th.
3. Kilbourne. Obituary. Joseph D. Fleming was born at Radnor, Delaware Co., OH, June 10, 1823, passed to a higher and brighter life June 18, 1889, aged 66yr 8 da. He was married to Sarah A. Cox, Oct 11, 1849. Six children were the fruit of this union, 4 boys and two girls, 3 of whom together with their mother were waiting to welcome him home. He was married to Lydia Russell June 3rd, 1869, they had only one child. a little girl who died at the age of 2 yrs. He entered the service of our country under Capt. Solomon B. Weiser, Co. F, 96th OVI. September 1st, 1862, and remained until the close of the War.

Transferred to Company A November 18, 1864, and to Veteran Reserve Corps December 21, 1864, and discharged at New Orleans, La., in June, 1865; died June 18, 1889, at Eden, Delaware county, Ohio. Lydia A. Fleming, widow, Kilbourne, Ohio.
