General Notes: William with family and brother Caleb and family moved to Washington County PA in 1776. William located in Morgan Township in the vicinity of Jefferson (known after 1796 as Greene County). He served as teamster in the Revolutionary War for about a year, stationed at the post at Morristown NJ, prior to his coming to PA. William and wife Mary were charter members of the Ten-Mile Presbyterian Church at Amity, Washington, organized Aug 15 1781 by Rev. Thadeus Dodd.
William moved to Ohio in 1799, almost 85 years old, moved his family there in 1803. His will is on file at Mt. Vernon, Knox county, filed on May 3 1808. He metions only dau. Rachel and son Amos in the will.
Owned a lot of land in New Jersey where Princeton now stands, which he left as legacy to male descendants forever. He was appointed by the King of England to be Justice of the Court of the Province of New Jersey.
