  General Notes:

Joseph Potter, brother of Gilbert, married a Mrs. Taylor, and settled on a large farm in the same school district, which, on account of the origin of the first settlers, who were noted for their morality, industry and their intelligence, was, and still is, called the "Virginia District."
Joseph Potter, a very enterprising and intelligent farmer, and his wife, are both dead.
