Obituary Jemima Margaret Potter, The oldest daughter of Daniel and Mary McClain Potter, was born Jan 6., 1831, in Kingston Twp., Delaware Co., Ohio. Her mother having died, at the age of two years she went to live with her grandmother , Mrs. McClain, at Chillicothe. Later at the age of fourteen, she made her home with an aunt, Mrs. Mary Blayney of Ohio Co. WV. hile living here, she united with the Presbyterian Church at West Alexander, Pa. On Sept 14, 1852m at the age of 21 years she was united in marriage to Robert Hamilton, a builder and Contractor of West Alexander. This uniion covering a period of 55 years, was broken by his death, Aug.19,1907. Ten children were born to them, eight of whom survive. They are: Mrs. E.W. Longwell and W.D. Hamilton of Missouri, Mrs. I.P. Wood of Marengo, James E.Hamilton of Cincinnati, Mrs. Harry Madox of Powell, Miss Jeanne Hamilton, Mrs. J.M. English and Mrs. W.E. Knight of Delaware. She leaves ten grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A half brother, Mr. Skinner Potter, resides at Berkshire. There are other relatives in Pa. and Ohio. She was a granddaughter of Jospeh Potter, a soldier of the Revolution. Shoretly after their marriage they went to Monroe Co.,Ohio from which place they removed to Illinois. After a number of years they removed to Delaware County, Ohio, coming to Delaware in 1875, where she has since resided. She was a a consistent member of the Prebyterian Church until he death , Dec. 24, 1911, at the age of 80y 11m and 18days. The funeral services were held from her late residence 262 N. Union Street.
