OBIT: Delaware Gazette December 11, 1888; Mrs. Elizabeth Longwell died last evening. She was one of the pioneers of Delaware Co. and died at her residence at Eden, in Brown Twp. She was in her 84th yr. and had been sick only a week with imflamation of the bowels. She leaves a family of nine children, one son, our well known townsman, Mr. N.T.Longwell and 8 daughters.

Delaware Gazette December 14, 1888 Obituary. Died at the home of her grand daughter, Mrs. McClaren in Kilbourne, OH, December 6,1888, of imflamation of the bowels, Mrs. Elizabeth Longwell, aged 84 yrs. Elizabeth Thurston was born in the State of NY, September 22, 1804, and removed with her parents to Delaware Co., OH, when she was about 6 yrs of age. At the age of 15 she was married to Ralph T [sic] Longwell, with whom she lived about 53 yrs, her husband having died in 1872. They were parents of 13 children, 11 daughters and 2 sons, of whom 9 survive. Her husband was a soldier in the War of 1812, and her 2 sons were in the war of the Rebellion, the eldest of whom, Dr. Albert G. Longwell died at Camp Chase in March 1865. Her Home was with her son, N.T. Longwell, formerly of Kilbourne but now of Delaware; but she was taken sick on Thanksgiving day while on a visit among her family in Kilbourne, and so violent was her illness it was impossible for her to return home. Her funeral was on the 8th inst, from the Prebyterian Church in Kilbourne, Rev. W.E Thomas of Marion officiating. Among her surviving descents are 9 children, about 40 grandchildren an 40 great grandchildren.
