BIOGRAPHY: Lucy was Born in Conn. in 1806, moved with family Jarvis and Neicy (Todd) Humiston to what was then Cazenovia, Madison Co., New York. Married Ira Clay in 1823 at the Presbyterian Church and had two sons Henry D. and Morris C. Clay and moved to Peru township Delaware County Ohio in 1833. They had a daughter, Nicy in May of 1833 and later a son Friend in 1837 who died the same year. In 1836 they bought inlot 32 in South Woodbury from Daniel and Elizabeth Wood and Ira and Lucy had the first Methodist Church meetings in their home. Ira was a shoemaker by trade and lived in South Woodbury the remainder of his life which ended in 1847 a. Lucy move in with her daughter, Nicy and husband John G. Doty who lived across the road from Ira & Lucy in 1851. She remained in South Woodbury until Nicy died in 1872 and then later moved to Ashley where John built a home and Lucy died there in 1879. Lucy outlived her husband and four children. She is buried in South Woodbury ME Cemetery with Nicy & John Doty and son Henry D. Clay.
