I Have other possible lines included in this tree to where Thomas may connect. Possibly someday DNA will match us to the correct family.
Possible connections to followup.

1. Christian and Mary Clay of Hardyton, Sussex, NJ. Other then the error of Thomas in Cleveland Ohio from Christian Clay's biography by William J. Clay in Oakland Co., Michigan. I believe this is the best fit based off of DNA test and other information for Clay Families in the Newark area of New Jersey. From Thomas's sale of lands in the 1830's it is possible he planed to move to Ohio with his son, but it never happened for some reason. We can rule this out based on that this Thomas Clay's wifes name is Rebecca in deed records.

2. Thomas Clay b 1745 whose father Thomas married Mary Wilmer and died at sea in 1744. Grand father was Robert Clay who married Ann Curtis of Philadelphia His mother then married Rev. George William Forrester that had a business in Trenton NJ.

3. Also Decendents of Joseph Clay Sr. and Ann Legardiere of Georgia seem to have New Jersey Connections. Mary Clay b. 1790, Princeton, NJ. the daughter of Joseph Clay Jr, and Mary Savage , Married William Rufus Gray in Essex Co., NJ in 1809. Also Ralph Clay brother to Joseph lived in Essex Co., NJ and died in Newark in 1817.

4.Also son of John and Ann Clay born in Baltimore MD.
