Joseph HARRISON
" Joseph 3rd live on, what is known as, the August Becker farm, between Roseland and Livingston, and must have had extensive holdings of land - judging from the scattered remnants in possession of his descendants. having twelve children of this own and annexing eightothers by marriage - establishing a record for the family. He was a man of small, slight stature which is said to be a characteristic of the Josephs who preceded him and it is stated on excellent authority that all of the Harrison menof colonial days were men of small stature. When he enlisted in the Revolutionary Army, he was considered to small to carry a flint lock musket; hence was given a flag which he carried, as color sergeant, through his term of service. Hedrew his back pay as a soldier of the Revolution three months before he died,$836.66, a very considerable sum of money for those times." Joseph married Phebe TOMPKINS, daughter of Jonathan TOMPKINS and Unknown, circa 1790.
