John was born in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. His parents moved to the Los Angeles area when he was three years old. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1937 then attended UCLA then completed his education at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Ruth Judson, on May 31, 1941 and they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this year.
John's working career was with Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Burbank in Tool Engineering. During his 35 years with Lockheed he received several special commendations for enacting large cost-savings programs.
John's favorite hobby was building furniture and in 1950 his works were recognized and displayed in the LA Times Home Magazine.
John began oil painting in 1971 as a hobby and a way of relaxing. He had a high-pressure job with Lockheed as a supervisor over 85 engineers in Manufacturing Standards. Today his 251 oil paintings are displayed in 17 different states of the U.S.
John married Margaret Ruth JUDSON.
