The funeral certificate of "John Bruen of Bruen Stableford, in the countyof Chester, Esquier, departed this mortall life the 18 January 1625 [-6],at his hall of Bruen Stableford, and was buried in Tarvin Church, in thecounty aforsayd" states he married 3 wives: The sayd defunct married tohis 3 wife Margret, daughter to John Allen of Chester, draper, somtymesheriff of Chester, and widow of John Rutter of Nantwich, gent., by whohe had Joseph Bruen, now living, and 10 years old at his father's death,and others dyed yonge [The Record Society of London: Volume VI, Relatingto Lancashire and Cheshire, pages 50, 51].
