The funeral certificate of "John Bruen of Bruen Stableford, in the countyof Chester, Esquier, departed this mortall life the 18 January 1625 [-6],at his hall of Bruen Stableford, and was buried in Tarvin Church, in thecounty aforsayd" states he married 3 wives: the first was Elizabeth, da.to Henry Hardware of Chester, Alderman and Justice of the Peace, after ofPeele Co. Cest, the relict of Jo. Couper, of Chester, Alderman, and byher had yssue. Caluen Bruen of Chester, 3 sonne to the defunct, marriedElizabeth, daughter to Rafe Littler of Walescot, in the County ofChester, gent., and hath issue John and Samuell Bruen [The Record Societyof London: Volume VI, Relating to Lancashire and Cheshire, pages 50, 51].
