Esther and her husband lived in a log house on the property where theylater built the permanent house which still stands on the Ridgewood orMountain-Side road, between Orange and Springfield, New Jersey.
The will of Timothy Ball, of Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, was dated1 June 1752, and proved 3 February 1758. He names wife Esther andchildren John, Uzal, Sarah, Charity and Rachel, and disposes of real andpersonal property. Executors were the wife, brother Aaron Ball (288-?)and Nathaniel Ball. Witnesses were Jonathan Tompkins, Jedidiah Hedden,and William Green [Liber F, page 487, East New Jersey Wills]. Theinventory was Ð414.12.5 and taken by Timothy Whitehead and Josiah Crane,7 February 1758.
After her husband's death in 1758, Esther and her two oldest daughtersmanaged the house and farm.
Her tombstone is inscribed, "Esther, w/o Timothy, d 10 Oct 1803/5 ae 88y"
