Samuel Kitchell took the oath of fidelity, 4 May 1654, in Guilford,Connecticut.

Samuel Kitchell held the following office by colonial authority inConnecticut and New Haven Colonies: Ensign, Guilford Train Band, July1665.

The will of John Wakeman (late) of New Haven, dated 18 June 1660, gives"unto my daughter Kitchell's daughter, Elizabeth, ten pounds.." "Then all the rest of my estate, goods, lands, debts whatsoever, I giveand bequeath to my son Samuell Wakeman and to my son-in-law and daughterSamuell and Elizabeth Kitchell as followeth, that is, when all my debtsand legasyes are discharged (which my mind is should be out of my estateas it ariseth indifferently and at the prises comon in thisJurisdiction). My will is that my son Samuell Wakeman shall have twothirds parte of that my whole estate that remaineth, and my son anddaughter Kitchell the other third part equally betwixt them, and my willis that my daughter Elizabeth Kitchell shall have that parte of herswholy at her owne disposing. And I doe make and appoint my son SamuellWakeman and my son-in-law Samuell Kitchell to be joyntly executors ofthis my last will and testament." Records of the Acts of the County Courts and Courts of Probates in theCounty of Hartford, and of Wills and Inventories which Said County Courtsare Called Somtimes Quarter Courts, Somtimes a Court of Magistrates andSomtimes perticular Courts, Volume II., March, 1649-50, to May, 1663.,Pages 168, 169.

Samuel removed to Newark, New Jersey.

On 28 April 1675, Samuel Kitchell was chosen as one of the townsmen ofNewark for the year. On 12 June 1676, he was returned to the same office.
