Rebecca was a beautiful person and a real sweetheart. Glenn and Rebecca were always so helpful in supplying information for the family tree. We use to sit with them at the family reunion and they always use to go to Bunns resteraunt after church on Sundays and we would see them there.

Rebecca A. Sheets, 91, of Delaware died peacefully Monday evening (Jan. 31, 2011) at the Centrum of Willow Brook Christian Village. She was born on April 21, 1919 to Guy and Mabel (Gephart) Dawson in Pickaway County. At the age of one she moved to Fayette County, then Madison County, moving to Brown Township in Delaware County when she was 16. A graduate of Brown Township High School in Kilbourne, she attended OSU. On Sept. 20, 1940, she married her high school sweetheart, Glenn T. Sheets; together they shared a wonderful life of 67 years on the same farm, making a home and raising a family. Glenn passed away on Dec. 3, 2007. A charter member of Kilbourne Child Study Club, she was a 29 year Grady Hospital Volunteer, a 4-H counselor, and active in the Extension Homemakers, Sunday school and church. She was also a member Farm Bureau Council, Berlin Grange 629, and the Ladies Aux. of the National Cattleman's Association, The Cowbelles. She and Glenn enjoyed traveling, visiting many states including Hawaii and Alaska; as well as Canada, Western Europe, England and Ireland. Many winters were spent in Sun City West, Ariz., near Phoenix. While strong willed and independent, her generous and loving qualities will long be remembered. She is survived by son, James (Carol) Sheets of Delaware; daughters, Mary Anne (Mike) Slattery of Bath; grandchildren, Sarah Maxwell (Anthony) Meyer, Leann (Randle) Sheets Hamon and Laura Ann Sheets; great-grandchildren, Aidin Kalbaugh, Rheyse Hamon and James Maxwell Meyer; brother, Richard (Dottie) Dawson of Delaware; and two nieces and a nephew, as well as numerous friends. She was also preceded in death by daughter Rebecca Sue Maxwell in 2009. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Terrace Room at Willow Brook Christian Village in Delaware with the Rev. Julie Carmean officiating. Burial will take place privately for her family in Green Mound Cemetery; arrangements have been entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the William Street United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Willow Brook Christian Village.
