His Marion County, Ohio death record gives New Jersey as place of birth. In the 1880 census his daughter, Rebecca, gives Virginia as his birthplace. The History of Delaware County gives his birthplace as Virginia.

From Abstracts of Delaware Gazette on 20 Feb 1874
"Jas. Abrams, a pioneer citizen of Brown Twp died on the 9th inst, aged 92 yrs. He was a native of New Jersey, came to Ohio in 1807, and was for 40 yrs a resident of this county. He died while on a visit to his daughter, residing in Marion Co. He was a member of the Wesleyan church."
