Carroll J. Fleming, 97, of Marengo and formerly of Ashley, died Wednesday evening (July 30, 2008) at Morrow Manor Health Center, Chesterville.
He was born Feb. 12, 1911, the oldest son of Charles Fleming and Neah (Sheets) Fleming. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from the Marion Engineer Depot Fire Department.
He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn (Joe) Pritchard of Marengo; six grandchildren, Jim and Tim Orsbon, Vanetta Donegan, Penny (Steve) Coyan, Rebecca Mitchell and Sonja Stein; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Thelma, who died in April 2002; one brother, Lowell; and one granddaughter-in-law, Rita.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 307 E. High St., Ashley, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Jay Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Ashley Union Cemetery, where the Delaware County Veterans Association will provide military honors.
