24. IX. Peter G. Van Sickle, the fourth and youngest child of Garret and Catharine, was born in Sussex Co., N. J., December 19, 1783. He married (in the same county) Elizabeth Stephens by whom he bad six children ; I. Deborah, bom Sep. 28, 1802, who married (in Delaware Co., O., in 1823) Almon Stark, (son of Paul Stark, by whom she had seven children\emdash DeWitt Clinton, who died young, Thomas Jefferson who died in California at about the age of 24, James Monroe, Louisa Lucinda, who died young, John Almon, who died at about the age of 18, Lucinda Louisa, and Eliza Jane, who died young)\emdash and died in September, 1867; II. William Garret, born Oct. 9, 1804; III. Asa, born May 29, 1807 ; IV. Elizabeth* born Nov. 23, 1810; V. Jane, born May 19, 1814, who married (in Delaware Co., O., in 1831) John Rosecrans, son of Isaac Rosecrans, by whom she had three children\emdash Elizabeth, Alvira, and Peter G.; and VI. Catharine,^ born Aug. 22, 1817 ; all of whom were born in Sussex Co., N.J., except Catharine, who was born in Delaware Co.. O. In the summer of 1817, he removed to Ohio, and settled in the woods in Delaware County, where he did the work of a pioneer, and lived on his farm which he cleared, until all his children were married. He died (in Delaware Co., O.) October 5, 1870. His wedding coat, which is made of calico, is now (1880) in possession of his youngest daughter, Catharine, and at her death it will descend tto her oldest child.
